$100,000 in 100 days

The Barnwell County United Way (BCUW) needs the community’s support after launching a campaign to raise $100,000 in 100 days.

While this might sound ambitious to some folks, we believe this can be accomplished. We’ve seen time and time again how Barnwell County comes together in times of need.

The BCUW does a lot of good in our community, a lot of which isn’t seen by the vast majority of residents. However, they reach a lot of people by supporting 26 area organizations, such as paying for children to participate in recreation sports through the towns, the Axis 1 food bank, and transportation for senior citizens and the disabled to go to necessary doctor’s appointments.

Those are just a few examples, but the BCUW truly supports Barnwell County. That’s why we encourage residents to support the BCUW so they can continue their good work.

The BCUW had to cut allocations to area organizations last year, but they hope this campaign will generate the money for them to reinstate the full allocations and even expand the work they do. The agency recently took over funding responsibilities for 13 Allendale County organizations after the United Way agency there dissolved in 2015.

Let’s all do our part to help the BCUW so they can stay here for years to come.
