Latest stimulus fund amounts for South Carolina

First Byline:
Richard Eckstrom - S.C. Comptroller General

Individual federal stimulus expenditures by state agencies through the end of June are now available online.

More than $2.67 billion in federal "stimulus" dollars have passed through state agencies through June 30. To view stimulus-spending details, visit the Web site of the state comptroller, www.cg.sc.gov/scstimulus.

Last year, the Comptroller General's Office began posting monthly stimulus-spending details on the Web, making South Carolina a pioneer in providing individual stimulus expenditures to citizens online.

"The debt from this spending extends far into the future of our children and grandchildren, so we owe it to those future generations to ensure the funds are spent with accountability and transparency," said Eckstrom.

"Furthermore, many South Carolinians adamantly opposed the stimulus, as Washington used the economic crisis as an excuse to spend money it doesn't have," Eckstrom said. "South Carolinians should at least be given the peace of mind that they can see how these federal funds are being spent."
