Blue Devil boys roll in region play

The Williston-Elko High Blue Devils blistered the Ridge Spring-Monetta High Trojans by a score of 66-30 Feb. 3 in boys varsity basketball.

The game was never in doubt as the Blue Devils took a 34-17 halftime on 18-second quarter points. Antonio "Busta" Walker had 10 points to lead the Blue Devils at the break. Walker finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.

With the win, Williston-Elko High improves to 14-6 overall and 10-2 in region play.

The Trojans started the game just four-of-13 from the field for nine points in the opening quarter.

Meanwhile, the Blue Devils had no problems putting the ball in the basket, going eight-of-12, including two three-pointers for 18 points in the quarter.

In the second half, the Blue Devils kept the heat on the Trojans, widening their lead to 46-29 behind 11 third quarter points by Rokeem Williams.

The onslaught continued in the fourth quarter as WEHS, outscored RS-M 20-6 to cap the game.

"I thought we did a good job of taking control of the game from the start. We were able to get out to a big lead which allowed os to play our reserves," Williston-Elko coach Devin Liferidge said.

For the game, Williston-Elko High had nine players scoring. Brandon Reed had a good, all-around game with 10 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Rokeem Williams had a superb performance with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Darryl Salley played well in the paint with eight points and 11 rebounds. Dexter Staley added seven points and six rebounds. Wilbur Greene had two three-pointers. Marcus Harris and Quantel Mack each scored four points.
