Allendale-Fairfax High coach Coby Brandyburg said they came alive on both ends of the court after a sluggish start.
“We dug a hole for oursleves in the first quarter, but we fought back,” Brandyburg said. “Our defense was a big key to our turnaround. We simply gave up too many uncontested shots at the start of the game.”
For the Tigers, it was a balanced attack offensively with eight different players scoring.
However, the star of the show for the Tigers was Tyquavian Youmans who turned in a double-double performance.
Youmans hit on nine of 13 shots from the field for 20 points. He also registered 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Also turning in a well-rounded effort was Jerome Polite III. Polite delivered his most complete performance of the season, finishing with 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Several others played well for the Tigers. Ahmonda Holmes had seven points and six steals. Justin Polite recorded seven points and 12 rebounds. Lonzando Badger contributed six points and seven assists.
“Offensively, we executed a lot better in the second half. Our shot selection also got better as the game went on. I thought we made some good decisions with the ball in the open court,” Brandyburg said.
