Salkehatchie Indians scalp Muskies, 18-0
The USC-Salkehatchie Indians scalped the Muskies of New River Community College of Virginia by a score of 18-0 Sunday in Allendale.
With the win, USC-Salkehatchie improves to 5-9 in the standings.
USC Salkehatchie, which swept New River Community College in a doubleheader on Saturday, was again bolstered by strong pitching and solid hitting.
This time, Robert Lewis came through on the mound with a one-hit, one walk and eight strikeout performance.
Offensively, the Indians were clicking on all cylinders as they pounded out a season high 15 hits. The team also had a season high four players with multiple hits.
Fueling the bats were Josh Litchfield and Will Gee with two hits and two RBIs each.
Offensively, the Indians blew a scoreless game wide open with 11 runs in the second inning. Benny Tresfsgar highlighted the inning with a grandslam homer. Josh Litchfield and Will Gee also came through at the plate with RBI single.
Ahead 11-0, the Indians continued to pour it on in the third inning with six more runs. Once again it was Will Gee delivering at the plate with a RBI single. Others who had a hit and scored in the inning included Mitchell Cobb, Jordan O’Cain, Tanner Reboulet, Caleb Talton and Nick Delbianco.
