Blue Devils torch Hawks, 16-0

  • Case Wiles of WEHS grounded the Hawks with a one-hit shutout last Wednesday in the Devils Den.

The Williston-Elko High baseball team torched Blackville-Hilda High 16-0 Wednesday in the Devils’ Den.

For the Blue Devils, it was powerful hitting, strong pitching and solid defense that paved the way to a rout over their in-county rivals.

The Blue Devils pounded out 13 hits and recieved an excellent performance in the circle by Case Wiles. Wiles grounded the Hawks at the plate, tossing a one-hitter with six strikeouts.

With the win, Williston-Elko High moves to 3-0 in region play.

“Overall, this was a good team win in all aspects of the game. We’re contining to hit the ball well while also being aggressive on the bases,” Williston-Elko High coach Alan LeRoy said.

For the Blue Devils, the game started off with a bang as the team plated nine runs in their first inning. Will Nolind fueled the scoring run with a two-run RBI double.

Others scoring in the inning included Tyshawn Allen, Tres Rimes, Case Wiles, Noah Wootten, JC Wood and Wymon Long.

In the second inning, the Blue Devils produced six more runs off five hits to complete the scoring.

For the team, Wymon Long and JC Wood highlighted the inning with RBI singles. Several others players who scored included Case Wiles, Noah Wootten, Brandon Nix and Griffin Zimmerman.
