Barnwell tops Williston-Elko in golf

The Barnwell High golf team hit the green March 27 in a match against in-county rival Williston-Elko High.

The Warhorses played well from top to bottom of the lineup and came away with a score of 162 compared to the Blue Devils who shot 226 as a team.

For the match, it was a tie on the leaderboard with Boldt Richardson and Kody Reynolds, both of Barnwell High, shooting a 38 and sharing medalist honors on the day.

Others playing well for Barnwell High included Kyle Horton with a 40, Luke Moody with a 46 and Kyle Horton and Wyatt Mahuron each with a score of 48.

“We played well, but we could have played better. There were some shots out there today I thought we could have made,” said Barnwell High coach Dwayne Garrick.

For the Blue Devils, Leon Dorch shot a 48 to lead the team. Dorch was followed by Tyler Sauls with a 56. Maggie Williams and Jordan Chavis each finished at 61.

“We didn’t play as well as we would have liked,” Wiliston-Elko High coach Tony Flowers said. “We’re a young team, but we’ve been making steady progress.”
