JDA clobbers Clarendon Hall in baseball
On March 21 in SCISA baseball action, the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders clobbered the Clarendon Hall Saints by a count of 9-0.
The game was never in doubt as the Raiders raced to a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back.
With the win, Jefferson Davis Academy improves to 7-4 overall.
JDA coach Michael Tindal said the team is gaining momentum.
“The big win over Williston-Elko High coupled by this victory gives us a lot of confidence,” Tindal said. “So far it’s been a total team effort. Everyone stepped up and made plays for us this season.”
For the Raiders, the blueprint for success against the Saints consisted of power hitting, strong pitching and solid defense as the team earned its second region win of the season.
The Raiders pounded out 14 hits in the contest and received an excellent performance from Adam Gee in the circle.
The top hitter for the Raiders was Wyatt Brant, who went two for four with two RBIs and two runs scored. Also enjoying a good day at the plate were Jimmy Bozard, Kyle Renew, Cameron Davis and Paul Bazzle. Each player scored and drove in a run.
Gee took care of business from the mound with ease in six innings of work.
Gee, who recorded his fourth win of the season, threw a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts. Wyatt Brant came on in relief in the seventh inning.
Defensively, the Raiders finished with only one error. The unit was led by Dalton Beasley, Jimmy Bozard, Colton Prtichard, Kyle Renew, Wyatt Brant and Paul Bazzle.
