Blue Devils torch Hawks
The Williston-Elko High baseball team cruised past Blackville-Hilda High by a count of 17-1 Friday in Blackville.
With the win, Williston-Elko High improves to 8-3 overall and 7-0 in region play.
It was all Blue Devils from the opening pitch as they raced to a 6-0 first-inning lead before extending their advantage to 11-0 after two innings.
The Blue Devils bats exploded in a big way against their in-county rivals for a total of 15 hits. Leading the hitting barrage was senior Will Nolind, who went three for three with a double and a triple.
Others enjoying a good day at the plate included Tyshawn Allen and Nolind with two hits and two RBIs each. Players with sinlges included JC Woods, Tres Rimes, Case Wiles and Noah Wootten.
On a day of Blue Devils’ fireworks at the plate, right hander Tres Rimes also turned in a good performance with two hits allowed and six strikeouts.
“We’re playing good right now. Hopefully, we can keep it going next week against Wagener-Salley and Ridge Spring,” Williston-Elko High coach Alan LeRoy said.
