No-hitter fuels Raiders to victory
On April 26 during Senior Night, the Jefferson Davis Academy baseball team added another win to its record with a 10-0 rout of Clarendon Hall Academy.
The victory was also paved by the pitching of Adam Gee, who delivered a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts in six innings of work.
With the win, JDA moves to 9-6 overall and 3-5 in region play.
JDA coach Michael Tindal said a convincing win over Clarendon Hall gave the team a boost going into the playoffs.
“I’m really proud of the way we played today. This is definitely the kind of win you want heading into the playoffs,” Tindal said. “Offensively, we had some timely hits, but it was our pitching and defense that was the story of the game. Adam Gee had a terrific game on the mound and our defense played superb behind him.”
The Raiders pounded out nine hits on a night where seniors Colton Pritchard and Cameron Davis were honored. Pritchard and Davis each had a hit and scored a run.
The game was close through the first two innings with the Raiders leading 2-0 on runs by Paul Bazzle and Jimmy Bozard.
However, in the third inning, the Raiders put some distance between themselves and their adversaries. Sparked by RBI singles from Jimmy Bozard, Cameron Davis and Blake Renew, the Raiders reeled off six runs for a commanding 8-0 advantage.
Also scoring for the Raiders in the inning were Colton Pritchard, Adam Gee and Dalton Beasley.
The Raiders then tacked on a run in the fifth and six innings to complete the game.
For the Raiders defensively, Wyatt Brant, Jimmy Bozard, Paul Bazzle, Adam Gee and Colton Pritchard all played well.
