80 hunters join in JDA dove shoot

  • Two-person teams of youth, some partnered with adults, participated September 16 in the Jefferson Davis Academy Shotgun Raiders dove shoot.

Approximately 80 hunters from South Carolina and Georgia participated in the Jefferson Davis Academy Shotgun Raiders dove shoot on Sept. 16 at Sandifer & Sons Farms, Blackville.

“The JDA Shotgun Raiders were amazed and appreciative at the support received by local hunters. A great day was had by all that attended and everyone displayed a sportsmanship that was outstanding,” said Julie Robinson, a coach for the team, adding how they had support from other youth shooting teams as well.

She said the love for hunting and youth involvement in shooting sports was apparent as many adults brought their children. “We are excited to see the family tradition of hunting being passed on to the next generation and excited to see the kids interested in youth shooting sports,” she said.

Robinson said the team looks forward to another great year of sporting clays and thanks everyone who donated and participated.
