The Blackville-Hilda High Hawks region title hopes took a blow Friday night with a 61-49 home loss to Fox Creek High.

Fox Creek High played better than its 4-7 region record as they dominated Blackville-Hilda High in the first half.

Led by Owen Jacobs, the Predators shot over 50 percent from the floor in the first half on their way to a 35-15 halftime advantage.

Owens scored 10 of his game high 16 points in the first half.

The loss drops Blackville-Hilda High to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in region play.

Blackville-Hilda High coach Michael Beasley said the team has to find a way to regain its momentum.

"In the last couple of weeks, we dropped two tough losses at home against C.A. Johnson and now Fox Creek," Beasley said. "In tonight's game, we just didn't match their intensity. We played poorly in every phase of the game."

For Blackville-Hilda High, Chris Kearse led the team with 14 points. Jaleel Hammond recorded six points and four steals. Larry Johnson had five points. Larry Smith and Brian Walters each provided four points.
