Tim Owens coached for the North team during the SCISA 1A region All-Star game while his daughter, Kasey Owens pitched for the team.

Jefferson Davis Academy was well represented last month at the SCISA 1A softball All-Star classic played at Orangeburg Preparatory School.

On hand for event for Jefferson Davis Academy were the Raiders father and daughter team of Tim Owens and Kasey Owens.

Both garnered post-season honors with Tim Owens named SCISA 1A Coach of the Year and Kasey Owens selected SCISA 1A Region Player of the Year.

The contest pitted the North All-Stars against the South All-Stars with Tim Owens coaching and Kasey Owens playing for the North team.

Just like the regular season, the Owenses enjoyed success on the diamond with the North team prevailing over the South team by a score of 5-1.

Kasey Owens played several positions in the game, including pitcher, shortstop and third base. She went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double in the fifth inning.

The Owenses said the game was an enjoyable experience.

"It was definitely a great honor for me and my daughter to be picked to play in this great classic event," Tim Owens said.

"We had a lot of outstanding ball players out here performing at a very high level today. It was a very enjoyable and It actually made my job as a coach easier."

"It was a lot of fun competing against some of the best softball players in the league," Owens said.

"I thought I played pretty well in the game. However, the most importhant thing was we won the game. I also made a few new friends."
