Clayton Dewberry recently led his intramural flag football team to a third consecutive Palmetto Cup championship and won his third consecutive tournament MVP award.
Dewberry is a 2006 graduate of Barnwell High School, where he played varsity baseball for coaches David Green and Joel Vaughn and varsity football for Coach  Joey Still.  Leaving BHS, Dewberry attended Clemson University where he obtained a BA in Biology in 2011.
While at Clemson Dewberry coached, quarterbacked, and ran the offense on two Palmetto Cup Championship flag football teams in 2009 and 2010.
Dewberry then moved this academic year to the University of South Carolina where he recently accomplished the same feat with a USC team.
The Palmetto Cup is a state-wide university intramural flag football tournament where teams from all major colleges in South Carolina - including teams from USC, Coastal, the Citadel, Clemson, Greenville Baptist, USC Spartanburg, Charleston Soutern , Winthrop, and College of Charleston - compete.
Each college uses its own process to select one or two premium teams to represent it in the Palmetto Cup.
The winner of the Palmetto Cup then represents the state of South Carolina in an all-expense-paid trip to the Southeast Regional tournament.
The Palmetto host facility also selects a tournament most valuable player.
Dewberry was selected in 2009 and 2010 by the University of South Carolina host intramural department, and in 2011 by the Coastal Carolina host intramural department.
The 2009 Clemson team is pictured in the first photograph showing teammates including Garrett Worrell, David Lott, and Clayton Dewberry all of Barnwell High School class of 2006.  This team travelled in January 2010 to Hattiesburg, MS for the Southeast Regional tournament, where they won two games before being finally eliminated by the eventual national champions.
The 2010 Clemson Palmetto Cup championship team appears in the second photograph showing teammates including Worrell, Lott, Dewberry and also Kyle Cook (BHS ’05).
This team travelled to the Southeast Regional tournament in Orlando, where it won one game before being eliminated.
The 2011 team is in the last photograph showing teammates including Dewberry and Corey Sanders (BHS ’08).
The team will travel soon to College Park, MD for the 2011 Southeast Regional tournament.
