In junior varsity girls basketball action, the Jefferson Davis Academy Lady Raiders defeated Clarendon Hall Academy 37-24 Jan. 19 in Summerton.

The Lady Raiders distributed the wealth offensively with eight players scoring. The top player for the Lady Raiders was Katelyn Bell. Bell poured in 13 points plus eight rebounds and six assists.

With the win, Jefferson Davis Academy improves it record at 11-1 in the standings.

"The girls are playing really well and I'm very proud of all of them," JDA coach Clint Inman said.

Others shining offensively for the Lady Raiders included Haley Eidson with eight points.

Presley Rutland had seven points and three steals. Anna Griffin scored three points while Madison Bates, Rachael Brown and Jessica Owens each scored two points.

In other game action, the Lady Raiders topped Patrick Henry Academy 24-10 Jan. 15 in Blackville.

Led by Bell, the Lady Raiders led the entire game, leading by a much as 14 points in the first half. Bell led all scorers with 16 points. She also had 10 rebounds.

Others playing well included Haley Edison with four points and six rebounds. Madison Bates had two points while Presley Rutland and Jamie Madura each scored one point.
