Spec's Vision team eyes title in minor league play

Fueled by Boldt Richardson's game high three hits and four RBIs, Spec's Vision downed Doc Depot by a score of 10-5 Saturday, June 6 at Lemon Park.

Ricardson, who drove in the first runs of the game with a two-RBI double in the first inning, finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Josh Shealy also had a solid game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

With the win, Spec's Vision improves to 4-1 in the second half of the season.

After winning the championship in the first half of the regular season, Spec's players seemed poise for a repeat performance inthe second half.

" Today I thought we did a good job of hitting the ball and playing defense," Spec's Vision pitcher Nathan Toole said.

"We played well in the first half of the season and we want to keep it going. We want to win the second half of the season too."

"We made the plays today like we have all season," first baseman Trevor Zorn said. "We're hitting the ball really well and playing well on defense."

"This was another big win for our team today and it feels really good," rightfielder Kamon Craddock said. "We want to continue our good winning."

The contest got off to a racing start with Spec's Vision as they scored three runs in the first at-bat. For Spec's Vision, Nathan Toole, J.D. Bailey and Boldt Richardson scored in the first inning. Lawson Detrick and Zorn were credited with RBIs.

In the bottom half of the first inning, Doc Depot got on the scoring board.

For Doc Depot, Vance Holden singled, stole second base and scored off anhit by Evan Leonard.

Leading 3-1, Spec's Vison added to its advantage in the top of the second inning.

Kamon Craddock led with a walk, then advance to third base off a single from Corbin Seigler. One batter, later, John Smoak belted a pitch to deep center, scoring Craddock. Moments later, Seigler scored off a hit by Toole.

Down 5-1 going into the bottom of the third inning, Doc Depot tried to stay within striking distance.

For Doc Depot, Hunter McClary and Cody Doe singled and scored to narrow the lead to 5-3. Douglas Scroggs and Britt Brown were credited with RBIs.

Ahead by two runs, Spec's Vision all but put the game away with three runs in the third inning for a 8-3 advantage. For Spec's Vision, Josh Shealy, Zorn and Detrick all singled and scored. Richardson and Bailey were credited with RBIs during the inning.

In the following innning, Spec's Vision enlarged the lead as Richardson and Bailey scored for a 10-4 score. Shealey highlighted the inning with a two-run RBI double.

Down 10-4 in the fifth inning, Doc Depot tried to mount a rally. Britt Brown scored from third base off a bases loaded walk. However, that would be the last of the scoring for Doc Depot.

On the mound, Toole was the top pitcher for Spec's Vision. Toole started the game, going four innings. Richardson came in relief in the fifth inning.
