Samuel Grubbs named 2022 Barnwell County Conservation Farmer of Year

"It is not easy being a first generation farmer, but you have without a doubt put your heart and soul into this love of yours," said Grubbs' wife Ashley. "It makes me so proud to see how much you care about these crops. You sacrifice so much."

Grubbs is a row crop farmer who has conserved soil and reduced runoff by installing a grass waterway and strip-till planting all row crops. Nutrient and pest management practices are utilized on his farm to benefit crop production while minimizing impacts on the environment. Winter cover crops are planted on many acres each year to improve soil quality, according to a press release.

He is the son of Michael Grubbs of Barnwell and Jennifer & Joey King of Williston.
