BARNWELL - Billy Herman “Wess” Westmoreland, 77, passed away October 16th, 2022. He was born March 1st, 1945, in Morristown, Tennessee to the late Jack and Thelma Westmoreland.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy K. Westmoreland of Barnwell; daughter, Dawn (Michael) Westmoreland Butts of North Augusta; son, J.J. (Laurie) Westmoreland of New Orleans, LA; granddaughters, Avery and Natalie Westmoreland; sisters, Nell (Sammy) Ducan and Mary Jo Katz, as well as his special fur-baby, Cali. He is preceded in death by sisters, Sandra Noe, Jane Westmoreland, Ann Smith, Jackie Sox, and Toni Long.
Wess loved his family, especially his two granddaughters who called him “Grampsie.” He loved his children and was proud of the paths they have chosen along with their spouses, Laurie and Mike. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to tend his garden to share with his friends and neighbors.
Visitation was held Thursday, October 20th, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Mole Funeral Home, with graveside services following at 11:30 a.m. at the Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Ed Traxler officiating. Pallbearers were Lonnie Keele, Roy Martin, Ronnie Horton, Ralph Moore, Coley Creech, and Ronald Still.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to his home health care team, Holly Tucker, Kellie Carroll, Alison Stevens, Josh Young, Judy Villalobos, Robin Boylston, and other Remain At Home staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Barnwell United Methodist Church Cemetery, P.O. Box 126, Barnwell, S.C. 29812, and the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
