WEST COLUMBIA - A Celebration of Life Service for Patty Horton Turpin, 73, of West Columbia, South Carolina, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church (2003 Charleston Highway, Cayce, S.C. 29033) with the Reverend Eddie Coakley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, you may donate in Patty’s memory to a charity of your choice.
Born in Tacoma, Washington, Patty was the daughter of the late Herbert Lee Horton and Nancy Loud Horton. Patty was a devoted follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She passed away suddenly on September 9, 2026.
Patty was employed by Carolina Eastman Chemical Company for 19 years with dedicated service as a Training Supervisor. She later retired from Savannah River Site after 21 years of service.
Patty cherished spending time with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and truly her prized possessions. She will always be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, GiGi, sister, and friend. Her love, kindness, faith, and devotion to those she loved will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Those left to cherish Patty’s memory include her newlywed husband, Jerry Edward Turpin of Iva, S.C.; her two daughters, Nancy (Jason) Shealey and Danielle Bland, both of West Columbia, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Beth (Jason) Hodges of Iva, S.C. and Kala (Thomas) Williams of West Ashley, S.C.; and stepson, Jeremy Turpin of Iva, S.C.
She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Madison Ann Marie Bland, Landon Loy Shealey, and Bella Jace Shealey; three step-grandchildren, Justin Hodges, Brady Hodges, and Greyson Williams; and three sisters, Linda (Rocky) Dunbar of West Columbia, S.C., Susie Horton (Alec) of North Augusta, S.C., and Raine (Marshall) Redd of Williston, S.C.
Patty was preceded in death by her late husband of 52 years, Danny Loy Bland of Columbia, SC.
Patty’s life was a blessing to her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her faith in Jesus Christ and the love she shared with her family will be a lasting part of her legacy. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
