The Barnwell Bombers went 4-0 to win the championship in the Gold bracket at the Under Armour Championship Series tournament.
The tournament started off Saturday, May 20, in Aiken but, because of weather on Sunday, May 21, 8u was changed to North Augusta for the final day. In the Gold bracket they beat Prime 8u 18-11 and then in the championship game they defeated North Augusta Stingers 8u in a nail biter 10-9.
“Our boys battled all the way through and never gave up, which is all we as coaches can ask for. We are extremely proud of them this weekend,” said Coach Chris Yancey.
He said the boys have come so far from when they first started due to the hard work, dedication, and time they have invested.
“These boys didn’t get like this because of just talent, they worked for it year-round. They deserve every single ring and trophy that they have. I love every single one of these young men and it is an honor that I get to be called coach by them,” said Yancey.
The Bombers have one more tournament this season and it will be this weekend in Lexington.
