WILLISTON - A Celebration of Life Service for Betty Ann Wooldridge Trotter, 98, of Williston will be held at twelve o’clock noon on Friday, October 11, 2024 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C. with the Reverend Jamie Wootten officiating; burial will follow in the Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Rd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Sexy Seniors. Memorial contributions may be given to Winfield Heights Baptist Church, 315 Chester St., Williston, S.C. 29853.
Betty passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Born in Gilbert, WV on December 24, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Robert E. Wooldridge and Rachel Burnside Wooldridge and was married to Earl L. Trotter for 59 years. She was a graduate of Charleston West Virginia School of Commerce Business College.
On July 19, 1952, she and her husband, along with their son Marshall, age 7, and daughter Linda, age 4, moved to Williston, S.C. She attended the First Baptist Church of Williston and was instrumental in organizing Winfield Heights Mission. The first service was held on January 25, 1953 and on October 9, 1955 Winfield Heights Mission was constituted into a church. She was a member of Winfield Heights Baptist Church for many years where she formerly served as secretary, church clerk, treasurer, youth director, GA leader and also taught Training Union and Sunday School. She worked at E.I. DuPont for 5 years; Bud Berma/Rex Knitting Mills for 11 years as a Billing Supervisor in the credit department. She was the Assistant Bookkeeper for 5 years at the Williston Telephone Company. She also worked at Dr. Gary Mullins Dentistry and Home Cable TV for 7 years as office manager. Mrs. Betty worked part-time at the Grapevine for 4 years. For 15 years, you could find her seasonally working as the manager at the Stage Door Café at Lakewood Camping Resort in Myrtle Beach. She retired at the age of 82 and returned to Williston, S.C.
Mrs. Betty enjoyed line dancing and exercising with the Sexy Seniors; her favorite line dance was the Chicken Dance. Some of the happiest times in Betty’s life were taking care of her children and their friends and then came her grandson, Chris, who was such a joy and blessing to her. She was also the happiest when she worked with the youth at Winfield Heights Baptist Church and loved working at Lakewood Camping Resort, a Christian campground in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dennis Kinard; her grandson, Chris Boyer and his wife, Brenda, all of Aiken, S.C.; a sister, Marti McGuffin (Ray) of Albemarle, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Daniel Owen and Summer (Myles) Schroder; great-great-granddaughters, Tenley, Briley and Karley Schroder; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Trotter; her sons, Marshall Trotter and Harry Glen Trotter, as well as, 6 brothers and 3 sisters; a son-in-law, Leon Boyer.
