Barnwell’s Jaidyn Devore has been selected to play in the Minority Softball Prospects All-American Game this September 27-29 at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama.
Barnwell’s senior dual threat pitching and hitting star will get the chance to play alongside and against some of the top high school softball players in the country. Many college coaches will be in attendance, so it is a great chance to possibly get college softball opportunity.
According to their website, “Minority Softball Prospects is dedicated to providing minority softball players across the country with access to quality programming and experiences. This support will allow us to empower communities that exemplify excellence and commitment to the game with the resources to reduce cost, increase capacity, access quality equipment and facilities and serve minority softball prospects worldwide.”
Barnwell head softball coach Mike Beasley was asked about Jaidyn’s selection and said, “Jaidyn Devore has dedicated herself to being the best softball player she can be. It’s always good seeing the rewards to the work that is put in. I’m very proud of Jaidyn and she is deserving of this recognition.”
Jaidyn’s mother, Felicia Devore, was asked for a comment about Jaidyn’s selection and said, “It is amazing to see the growth and maturity Jaidyn has developed over the years in the game of softball. Many long hours of practice, lessons and getting up at the crack of dawn on weekends for countless travel ball games are just a few of the sacrifices she has made in her journey to become a college athlete. We are extremely proud that she has been blessed with the opportunity to compete against some of the top athletes in the country.”
If you did not see Jaidyn and the Warhorses play last year, you missed quite a show. Jaidyn led the Horses with a lofty .594 batting average and led the team in hits with 38. As impressive as that sounds, she was maybe even more impressive throwing strikes from the circle, where she recorded a 0.99 ERA (earned run average) last season.
Please let Jaidyn know that Barnwell High School, the City of Barnwell, and Barnwell County will all be cheering her on as she competes in this prestigious Minority Softball Prospects All-American Game. Congratulations, Jaidyn!
