FAIRFAX - Mr. Jessie Tyndal Strickland Jr., age 75, of Fairfax, S.C., husband of Linda P. Strickland, joined our Heavenly Father Friday, December 20, 2024, at his residence after a long battle with chronic illness.

Mr. Strickland was a native of Allendale County, son of the late Jessie Tyndal and Mildred Moody Strickland Sr. He was a retired logger with Specialty Logging Company in Sycamore, S.C. He attended Harmony Baptist Church.

J.T. was a hard worker, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. J.T. loved gardening, especially planting peanuts to share with his family and friends. He was famous for his peanut boils at church. He was affectionally known as the Peanut Man.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Priester Strickland; their beloved children, Susie Strickland Youmans (Ron) of Varnville, S.C.; John Ross Strickland (Julia) of Fairfax, S.C.; grandchildren, Cody (Meagan), Josh (Kendra), J.R. and Jackson; great-grandchildren, Maylee, Graham, Eli and new baby coming in June; one niece, Becky G. Rowell (Charles) of Fairfax, S.C.

He was predeceased by his sister, Jennie S. Graham; and nephew, Wally Graham.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Harmony Baptist Church (1636 Jennys Road, Fairfax, S.C. 29827) with the Reverend Aron Winn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
