LETTER: Hagood Avenue Baptist grateful for community support after fire

Posted

Dear Editor,

Hagood Avenue Baptist Church would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for all the support we have received after lightning struck the steeple of our worship center on August 11, 2023. Words seem so inadequate to convey our gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, love, concern, and assistance that day as we witnessed the loss of our beloved church building, and in the days that have followed.

Thank you to the numerous fire departments and first responders who came to our aid. Thank you to those who supplied tents, coolers of ice, Gatorade, water, Liquid IV, food, and so many other supplies to support the many firefighters, first responders, and our church family. Thank you to our sister church who has opened their facilities to allow our church family to gather for Sunday worship services.

We have been the recipient of genuine love from our community of Barnwell and surrounding areas. You have met our needs from the moment this tragedy occurred and we are amazed at the blessings you so graciously and generously continue to bestow upon us in our time of loss. We have truly witnessed the strength and generosity of community and we thank God for each and every one of you.

We have had the awesome blessing of being part of God’s Kingdom work in Barnwell since 1953. There is still much to be done as we move forward in obedience to establish God’s plans for our church family. With our eyes fixed on Jesus, we ask that you continue to lift our leaders and church family in prayer as we seek wisdom and direction for God’s future plans for Hagood Avenue Baptist Church. We will continue to share the wonderful message of God’s great love, grace, and mercy, as we look forward to all God has planned and purposed for us to carry out in our loving community of Barnwell, our state, nation, and around the world.

May God bless each of you.

With much love and gratitude,

Dr. Brandon Sandifer,

Rev. Scott Brown,
