ULMER - Melvin Leroy Goodson, 69, husband of Michaele Dalin Goodson, died Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Melvin was a native of Ulmer, S.C., a son of the late Lee Roy and Ellen Robinson Goodson. Melvin was a graduate of Allendale Academy and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He worked alongside his father as a mechanic at the Allendale Grain Elevator/Massey Ferguson Dealership. He was a lifelong farmer and owner of Goodson Grocery in Ulmer.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to many. He enjoyed helping people any way he could. Melvin always had a good dog and loved his cats.
Family members include his wife, Michaele Dalin Goodson; daughter, Amber Dalin (Mike); grandson, Joseph Branden Dalin; cousins, Melvin David Robinson Jr. (Tammy), William Theodore Robinson (Dawn), Edward Wannamaker Robinson (Madalyn), Bill Goodson, Jackie, G. Gohagan (Nick), Alan (Nickie) and Addie Goodson.
He was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Alan Goodson, K.I.A. in Vietnam; and his cousin, Will Goodson.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Great Saltkehatchie Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
