CHARLESTON - Nancy Gardner Harley, 75, of Charleston, S.C., entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 25th, 2024. Her memorial service was held in Charleston at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church on May 30th. A graveside service will be held at the Baptist Cemetery in Barnwell, S.C. on Thursday, January 2nd, 2025 at noon.

Nancy was born on June 18th, 1948 in Florence, S.C., daughter of the late Edwin Peden Gardner and Mildred Rawles Gardner. Nancy grew up in Columbia, S.C., and was a member of the Class of 1966 of A.C. Flora High School. She graduated from Limestone College in 1970. She moved to Charleston, where she worked as a Social Worker in the Burn and Trauma Unit of MUSC in the 1970s and early 1980s. In 1976 she married Mac Richard Harley who preceded her in death in 2016. Nancy was a member and former Clerk of Session of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Ladies’ Benevolent Society, Junior League of Charleston, Colonial Dames, and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her son, the Rev. Peden Emile Harley of Wilmington, N.C., and daughter, Laura McKeithen Harley of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Lydia Margaret Harley, Emma Claire Harley, and Michael Emile Harley; and other beloved nieces, a nephew, family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Finley.
