Patt passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

Born in Orangeburg County, S.C., he was a son of the late Jessie Lee “Sonny Boy” Abbott Jr. and Alberta Porter Abbott. He was a member of Healing Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He retired from Savannah River Site having worked as a planner, machinist, and a Radcon Inspector. Patt loved spending time with his family and friends; usually, you would find him sharing a fine meal with his loved ones. He loved spending time fishing on the Edisto River and was an avid hunter. Patt’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he mentored and the dogs he trained, each carrying forward the lessons learned, and the love shared. Though Patt may have passed from this world, the impact of his superpower of mentorship will continue to inspire and uplift for generations to come.Top of Form

All children were special to him, especially his nieces and nephews. He was an avid Clemson Tiger fan who hosted family and friends for every football game. He was a faithful member of Blackville Lodge #63 where he served as the Lodge’s go-to coach. Everyone who knew Patt loved him, he was a friend to many, and all will miss him dearly.  He has left some wonderful memories for his loved ones to share.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Donnie and Donna Jean Abbott; sister-in-law, Peggy Abbott; aunts, Lois Barr and Louise Rollins; nieces and nephews, Lee (Laurie) Abbott, Jay (Holly) Abbott, Bobby (Alissa) Abbott Jr., Allison (Jason) Chatfield, Brittany (Jordan) Rhoton, Stephanie (Jason) Davis, Christina (Bobby) Collins, and Rebecca (Trey) Chavis; a very special “daughter”, Lizann Bonnett; a number of great nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

In addition to his parents, Sonny Boy and Alberta Abbott, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Abbott Sr.
