WILLISTON - Funeral services for Mary Pearle Owens Benedict, 93, of Williston, S.C. will be held at 3 o’clock p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2024 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, S.C. with the Reverend Charles Morris officiating; burial will follow in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Music Fund, 1077 S.C. Hwy. 39, Williston, S.C. 29853.

Mrs. Pearle passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Born in Williston, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Robert Young Owens Sr. and Mary Ann Randall Owens. She was married to the late Donald E. Benedict for 33 years. She was a life-long resident of Williston, S.C. and was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist where she taught the Florence Brown Sunday School Class for many years and was a devoted Christian and loyal church member. She was also a member of the Golden Age Group where they visited numerous churches during the year. She previously worked at Skyline Manufacturing for a number of years and she loved cooking for family gatherings. Mrs. Pearle enjoyed working in her garden and was devoted to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marsha Thompson and Dwight McNeely for their care and attention that they bestowed upon Mrs. Pearl. They were wonderful friends to her.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald R. “Donnie” and Penny Benedict Sr. of Williston, S.C.; grandchildren, Marshall Gunnels of Minnesota and Haley Gunnels of Columbia, S.C.; and one great-granddaughter, Emmy Adaline Benedict of Barnwell, S.C.

In addition to her husband, Donald E. Benedict, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Donald Robert “Robbie” Benedict Jr.; her sister, Alice (Sidney) Modgling; brothers, Norman Lee Owens Sr., Ernest E. Owens, Husey Owens, Aiken Owens and Robert Owens Jr.
