Schumpert’s Market in Williston held a BBQ cookoff on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Members of the public entered and used meats purchased from the store.
Local mayors, including Barnwell Mayor Ron Still and Williston Mayor Brett Williams, helped judge the contest.
"It was a great success! We will be doing the event again," said Bryane Washburn, co-owner of the grocery store.
The first place winner was Kenneth Odom who received a trophy and a $300 gift card. Second place winner was Bryce Williams and he received a trophy and a $200 gift card. Third place winner Donald Platt received a trophy and a $100 gift card. George Bayer won fourth place.
