Posted

The ninth annual DIG STEM Festival came to Main Street in Williston on Saturday, May 4.

Each year, the Dreams, Imaginations, and Gifts (DIG) program hosts a day where STEM professionals showcase their field to minds of all ages. The main goal of the festival is to increase awareness about the vast options in science, technology, engineering, and math-based careers in rural regions where they may not be as prevalent.

The festival included drones, robotics, flight simulators, virtual reality games, in addition to performances by many talented artists such as the Low Country Health Care System Inc. Line Dancers.

Exhibitors included Barnwell High School, FIRST South Carolina, Summit Academy, Palmetto Innovation Center, Betabox, and many more. Each brought an interactive STEM activity for kids and adults to learn about. Multiple booths had gatherings of excited participants waiting to participate in the booth’s activity.

Sponsors of the event include SRP Federal Credit Union, Barnwell County S.C., Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, BEFESA, Town of Williston, CPI, S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, Savannah River Site, Breezeline, BSRA, Savannah River Mission Completion, CNTA, Energy Solutions, and Swiss Krono.
