Calling all young artists and nature lovers! The South Carolina Wildlife Federation (SCWF) announces the launch of the 2025 South Carolina Songbird Art Contest, presented in partnership with Wildlife Forever and sponsored by Dominion Energy. This free contest invites all K–12 students across the state to showcase their creativity while learning about the native birds that call South Carolina home and the migratory visitors to our state. The deadline to enter is November 30, 2025.
Students may enter artwork of one of this year’s five featured species: the black-and-white warbler, white-breasted nuthatch, purple finch, Carolina wren, and painted bunting. Grades 4–12 also submit a short essay alongside their art. Entries will be judged on creativity and originality. Winners from the South Carolina contest will be submitted to the Wildlife Forever National Songbird Art Contest, giving students the chance to have their talents recognized nationally.
SCWF’s website has resources for families and educators to explore, which makes it easy to bring the South Carolina Songbird Art Contest into classrooms, after-school programs, and students learning at home.
Art is a powerful way to connect students to the natural world and through this contest, we hope to inspire the next generation of conservationists while celebrating the beauty of South Carolina’s birds.
