Keep Barnwell County Beautiful spreads community pride

Posted

Keep Barnwell County Beautiful (KBCB), soon to be an official affiliate of the Keep America Beautiful organization, recently partnered with the Barnwell Farmer’s Market to share with members of the county how they can help continue the efforts being made to keep their communities beautiful.

Interim Coordinator of KBCB and County Councilman Ben Kinlaw, SouthernCarolina Alliance’s Regional Beautification Marketing Coordinator Graci Hiers, City Councilwoman Peggy Kinlaw and owner of Rivendell Farms Margo Huggins distributed informational handouts about the beautification efforts, as well as free seeds of a variety of flowers and herbs to members of the community as they encouraged them to beautify their yards. Mrs. Kinlaw and Huggins both serve on the KBCB board.

Owner of Rivendell Farms, a farmette and homestead located in Williston, Huggins is knowledgeable when it comes to the agricultural side of beautification in a community. She believes that the beautification of space goes deeper than just removing litter.

“I am honored to serve on the Barnwell County chapter of Keep America Beautiful because I am adamant about picking up trash and controlling litter in general,” says Huggins. “By planting and growing flowers and plants in our community, we are also creating a habitat for insects, birds, and other wildlife. It is our responsibility to keep our county beautiful for ourselves and the creatures we share it with.”
