Michael Still, 47, has been reported missing. Still was last seen on February 6 at his apartment on Colony West Street in Barnwell.
The Barnwell County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Barnwell Police Department (BPD) are currently investigating the whereabouts of Michael Gene Still.
Still was last seen at his residence at Colony West Apartments on Colony West Street in Barnwell on February 6.
The 47-year-old is six feet, two inches tall and weighs 275 pounds. Still has brown hair, wears glasses, and has some facial hair.
Still’s sister, Melissa Still Chavis, last saw her brother on February 3 around 3:30 p.m. when he left her Williston home for his Barnwell apartment. Melissa told BCSO her brother’s cellphone was out of data and minutes.
BPD conducted a welfare check at Still’s apartment on February 9. Officers arrived to an unlocked door with no one inside. Many of his personal items such as medication, glasses, and jacket were in the apartment.
Still’s car was parked in front of the building, leading those involved to believe his disappearance may be on foot.
“This is very sickening to us and we are just wanting some answers. The authorities are doing everything they can and I am very grateful. This is such a mystery that doesn’t make sense. He bothered no one, he may have been different but he wouldn’t bother you,” said Melissa on Facebook.
According to BCSO, the agency has used multiple resources from other agencies in the search for Still.
Numerous statements have been made on social media allegedly connecting the disappearance of Still and the disappearance of 17-year-old Maylashia Hogg, who was later found dead. However, BCSO has not made a connection between the two cases.
“Though there is no concrete evidence that Still’s disappearance is related to Malayshia Hogg, we continue to work closely with Barnwell Police Dept. to share information and follow all leads,” said BCSO in a statement.
